چکیده

Cadmium (Cd) contamination is a global environmental challenge that threatens human food security. Lime combined with five different organic materials (rape seed cake, mushroom residue, straw, sawdust, and corn cobs) (LOM) at application ratios of 1:1 lime sawdust nitro-compound fertilizer (Ca(NO3)2·4H2O, KH2PO4, KNO3) (LSF) rates were applied to Cd-contaminated soil. The present study investigates the effects these organic–inorganic compound amendments on Cd bioavailability in soil, uptake accumulation by edible Artemisia selengensis parts. A. was cultivated for three consecutive seasons LOM LSF treatments obviously reduced Cd. Compared control contents parts decreased 19.26–33.33% 26.67–32.78% first season, 18.60–32.79% 18.37–32.79% second 20.45–40.68% 34.32–37.27% third respectively. addition + Mushroom Residue 70% Nitro-compound Fertilizer Sawdust most significantly concentrations season. increased soil pH improved fertility, including available nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, matter, cation exchange capacity. plant yield most. In addition, had lowest health risk indices, conclusion, risks, enhanced growth, promoted sustainable development arable land under remediation.

immobilization of cadmium in a cd-spiked soil by different kinds of amendments

chemical stabilization of heavy metals is one of the soil remediation methods based on the application amendments to reduce mobility of heavy metals. a laboratory study was conducted to investigate the influence of different kinds of amendments on cadmium (cd) stabilization in a cd-spiked soil. the amendments were municipal solid waste compost (mswc), coal fly ash (cfa), rice husk biochars prep...

Cadmium removal from contaminated soil by tunable biopolymers.

An elastin-like polypeptide (ELP) composed of a polyhistidine tail (ELPH12) was exploited as a tunable, metal-binding biopolymer with high affinity toward cadmium. By taking advantage of the property of ELPH12 to undergo a reversible thermal precipitation, easy recovery of the sequestered cadmium from contaminated water was demonstrated as the result of a simple temperature change. In this stud...

Effects of full and limited irrigation and contaminated soil on cadmium uptake by corn

Using plants for the remediation of soils contaminated with heavy metals is an economical, cheap, and effective strategy. The goal of this research was to study the effect of sewage sludge and drought stress on the remediation of cadmium in soil, root uptake by corn plant. This study was carried out on corn in factorial design experiment based on completely randomized design with three replicat...

Organic and Inorganic Amendments Affect Soil Concentration and Accumulation of Cadmium and Lead in Wheat in Calcareous Alkaline Soils

Irrigation with untreated effluent in periurban agriculture could result in accumulation and bioconcentrations of cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb). Different amendments were used to investigate their effect on availability, concentration, and uptake of metals by wheat in texturally different soils. Crop was irrigated with water containing Cd and Pb at 20 mg L−1, thereby adding 260 mg pot−1 of each me...
